Uncertainty is ontological, not phenomenological. We, all the rest and the whole Universe, exist only because the primary expression of the Source of Reality is indeterminate, uncertain (where the inner interaction between the Fundamental Force and the Elementary Field incessantly produces Elementary Events, the small fluctuations of the Field at the Planck scale).

Uncertainty is pervasive, ubiquitous, in the most elementary Levels of Reality (from the Planck scale to the Processes of Events that we call particles and waves, the Structures of Information, and in some form even beyond, for atoms, etc.).

Uncertainty, at the most fundamental level of Physical Reality, is expressed as indetermination of the density of the Elementary Events (the Mode of Elementary Action that we call Perturbation) produced by the internal interaction of the Fundamental Force which acts on the Elementary Field. The (local) flow of Time depends on the density of Elementary Events, the speed of clock hands to use an expression dear to physicists, which implies the speed of propagation of Action (or Information, or Causality) in the Field Elementary, variable quantity (therefore not constant) which we commonly call the speed of light in a vacuum.

So, uncertainty is at the very foudation of the Formation of the Physical Reality.

In quantum mechanics, the uncertainty principle sets "a fundamental limit to the accuracy with which the values for certain pairs of physical quantities of a particle (complementary variables or canonically conjugate variables), such as position, x, and momentum, p, can be predicted from initial conditions". It implies that "in general it is not possible to predict the value of a quantity with arbitrary certainty", even if all initial conditions are specified. 

This principle somehow represents '''the tombstone of the (exclusively and absolutely) deterministic (and reductionist) view of Nature'''. Not of determinism, which in the global context of Reality represents a phase of the causal evolution of Reality and in certain areas (at medium levels of complexity / causal extension and high spatial and temporal extension, such as those of objects existing on the human dimensional scale and up to to cosmic / universal dimensions) may represent a very good approximation of the uncertain nature of the most basic and infinitesimal levels of Physical Reality.
